This is a difficult time. The world is riddled with anxiety, fear, and a deadly disease that has radically interrupted the daily life of nearly everything and everyone. So, for the whole month of April, The Porkchop Express presents: THE QUARANTINE STREAM, a 30 day series designed to help shine a light on a film that is worthy of your time and might very well be the distraction you need. In an effort to keep it fresh, we will be alternating between the big three services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu) and trying to keep the choices as varied as possible.

For Day Three, have some laughs with this throwback creature-feature, now available on Netflix!

Evolution (2001)

An early foray into comedy for Julianne Moore and a reluctant return to sci-fi for David Duchovny is rounded out by familiar faces Seann William Scott and Ethan Suplee doing what they do best: playing lovable morons. But the real star of the show is Orlando Jones whose stint as a sleazy geology professor/women’s volleyball coach is a bizarre and mesmerizing performance. From home-run director Ivan Reitman, Evolution might seem like less of a highlight and more of a nadir but the stellar creature effects and steady stream of “oh hey!” guest stars maintain this ridiculous comedy’s pace.
