This is a difficult time. The world is riddled with anxiety, fear, and a deadly disease that has radically interrupted the daily life of nearly everything and everyone. So, for the whole month of April, The Porkchop Express presents: THE QUARANTINE STREAM, a 30 day series designed to help shine a light on a film that is worthy of your time and might very well be the distraction you need. In an effort to keep it fresh, we will be alternating between the big three services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu) and trying to keep the choices as varied as possible.
For Day Twenty-Three, we have this insane Indonesian action flick. Now available on Netflix.
The Night Comes For Us (2018)
Whether you are an action junkie, a martial arts aficionado, or just someone who appreciates crime films, boy do we have a movie for you. Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim and Julie Estelle are currently some of the baddest motherfuckers working in international cinema right now and this kinetic, hyper-violent action flick is so densely packed with both top-notch choreography and buckets of gore, it makes the John Wick franchise look like child’s play. While it is not the finest Indonesian action has to offer (for that, see The Raid films) thanks to a pretty thin storyline, it remains a must-see for anyone who loves badassery and one of the most brutal action films this writer has ever seen.
